Energy Financing Options
TBL Fund offers innovative energy financing options including energy performance contracts (EPC), property-assessed clean energy (PACE), Energy as a Service (EaaS), and power purchase agreements (PPA).
- Energy Performance Contracts (EPC) — EPCs make it possible for Public Housing and others to access green upgrades at no upfront cost nor any ongoing costs. In this structure, an energy service company (ESCO) coordinates installation and maintenance of clean energy installs including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and storage and is paid by TBL Fund, who then recoups its investment from the energy savings.
- Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) — PPAs can allow MFAH owners to buy the electric output from an energy generation system such as Solar PV that is installed, owned, and operated by a third-party developer. Most renewables get financed with PPAs.
- Energy as a Service (EaaS) — EaaS is derived from Software as a Service (SaaS); it leverages flexibilities and best practices from other energy financing options and places financial burden, risk, and responsibility for servicing the installs with the industry experts/proponents of energy efficiency/renewable energy technologies.
- Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) — PACE programs allow property owners to make green improvements to their properties by fully financing all upfront costs. Costs are then attached to a voluntary property tax assessment and paid off over an extended period alongside the property taxes. This financing is unique in that the financing is tied to the property and not the owner, so on sale by the current owner, unlike debt, PACE transfers to the new owner.
Bridge Financing
TBL Fund also offers bridge financing to help our customers cover upfront costs for projects. TBL Fund works with customers to develop their project scopes and identify all available financial resources. We then issue financing based on the rebates, incentives, and tax credits the projects are expected to receive. Our terms span 1 to 15 years, and the process for securing financing is simple and quick.
